Manchester United vs Liverpool FC 3-2 (19/09/2010)

Many weeks ago, we told ourselves that if we could get tickets to watch Man Utd Vs Liverpool, we would definitely jump on it and not think twice or we would have to face the dreadful feeling of missing out on something BIG. In all English Premier League matches, we believe that nothing would be even BIGGER than the clash of the Northwest Derby.  Now fast forward a couple of weeks later, and we are off to Manchester for the Clash of the Titans!

We arrived a day earlier and stayed in a cosy little hotel just a few mins walk away from Old Trafford

Some candid photos taken for fun haha...

Almost died from being suffocated

Match day itself! Crowds gathering everywhere! but not a kop in sight!

This time we're going in for real! Yippeee!

Everyone grabbing some last minute munchies before kick off

We could see the players having a little warm up on the pitch

Almost time for kick off and the stadium is filled... attendance was about 75,000 people!

As the players arrived on the pitch, everyone got up to sing the Man Utd anthem

It was half time and Utd was 1-0 up thanks to Berba. During the break a charity function was held with kids attempting to kick a ball through the hole.

United goes 2-0 up with a spectacular overhead kick from Berba. Van der Sar cuts a lone figure as the United half was rarely threatened

The crowd looks on as Liverpool claw their way back with a penalty and a superb freekick from Stevie G. Nail biting stuff!

3-2! Berba the hat trick hero! Fantastic stuff from both teams!

It is full time and the crowd erupts!

Everyone left with smiles on their faces as United get the 3 points

The Liverpool coach await for the players as the security guys look on

After the match ended we checked in to our hotel that was part of the 'Dreambreak' package which also includes a free museum and stadium tour

Had chinese buffet for dinner... i thought my stomache lining was gonna explode

Buffet breakfast again the next day

On our way to Old Trafford for the stadium tour, we came across this public toilets for gents... or pissoir as they are known. One just has to simply step in front of it unzip your pants and wee away! How convenient for us guys!

Here are some of the pictures we took but i won’t post them all as some of it you would have seen on our previous entry –>http://ourjotterbook.wordpress.com/2010/05/15/to-the-theatre-of-dreams-old-trafford/

A plaque of the unique treble that we won in 1999

A wall that features all of United's signing

A machine that produces artificial sunlight for the grass pitch

Our tour guide explaining the importance of the Stretford End

I didn't realise that underneath this is a time capsule... either the previous guide didn't mentioned it or i was just too amazed by my surroundings back then to be paying any attention

That's me saying my farewells to the theatre of dreams... i wonder when will i get to come here again?

Took a tram back to the city area

The next day we went to the coach station to wait for our ride to Newcastle-upon-Tyne

After thoughts:  Fantastic atmosphere and great game! Never expected less from a derby match. We kinda expected the game to have a low score margin but were we suprised! We would have loved to see Michael Owen play though. After the previous week’s draw against the blue half of merseyside, this result would definitely perk things up!

Bottom line is…if you are a fan of either Manchester United or Liverpool, you MUST watch the derby match either at Old Trafford or Anfield at least once in your lifetime! I promise the memories that you have of it will stay with you for a long long time!
